Happy St Patties Day!!!

So today is my birthday which is why I have to re-post this same photo every year of my little zipper-doodle. Several years ago he won a contest “Cutest St. Patties Day Puppy.”

I just think this photo is The Cutest!

Baby Smoot

Announcing The Smoots baby boy… Hand some Gabriel
Mommy and Daddy met in the armed forces and Daddy was a helicopter pilot so we decided to incorporate some of those aspects into Gabriel’s first photo-shoot.
If your planning to do a newborn photo                                           shoot there are a couple tricks to make it go smooth. First of all having an idea or theme is always helpful. You want to turn the head up. To make sure baby is comfortable you honestly want to make them seep through the whole thing. In general I find babies are usually easier to work within the mornings.  You want to time things so that when I show up the baby has just gotten done being feed and is ready to go down for a nap. You also want to make sure the heat is turned up so its comfortable for the baby to be naked and not need to be covered. In addition I have my clients take advantage of the fact that I’m there and plan to do some whole family shots at the same time.

Winter Photo shoot

My boyfriend has a place in Lake Tahoe and we’re there a couple times a year. Right around christmas a Karla and Sean called me for a Malibu Portrait Session. During our conversation they talked about how they’d be in Tahoe for New Years and wanted to do some photos up there but didn’t want to have to find a photographer up there. To their surprise my boy friend and I were heading up to Tahoe for New Years as well, and I’ve been dying to shoot a portrait session up there. Here are a couple photos from our shoot.

What should we wear for our family portrait session?

People are always asking what they should wear for family portrait sessions. I always tell them “you should match” not that they should all wear the same exact outfits but dress in a similar style and complementary hues. The best examples I’ve found of this, is the Tommy Hilfiger advertisements. Everyone is dressed for the same season, they match, but their not all wearing the same thing. Below are some examples…
